Sparrow by Sarah Moon
Sparrow would rather spend time flying with the birds than interacting with the other students at her school. When she’s found on the edge of the school’s roof, everybody thinks she’s going to jump. Sparrow doesn’t know how—or if she even wants to—explain what she was really doing up there.
Now Sparrow has to go to therapy with Dr. Katz who straddles the line between helpful and infuriating. Helpful because she introduces Sparrow to music that speaks to her soul. Infuriating because Dr. Katz wants Sparrow to open up, let others in, and try harder to stay grounded in reality. When an opportunity to go to Rock Camp arises, Sparrow has to decide whether she’ll stay hidden in the bushes or let her voice and her spirit soar.
This is a must-read for music-lovers. You’ll find yourself wanting to fly right alongside Sparrow.
